ΡΩΣΟΙ ΣΥΝΘΕΤΕΣ – GYORGY SVIRIDOV : TIME FORWARD! [1965]

For today’s program, a double tribute related to the current affairs : the anniversary of the Russian
victory against the Nazis and the Russian president’s reference to the upcoming “Doomsday” that’ s …trending on social media.
So we have music written for The End Of The World, and also the beginning of another cycle of works by Russian composers.
Here’s the intro from the orchestral suite written by
Gyorgy Sviridov for the Soviet film [English title] “Time, Forward!”, 1965.
The movie was about the Stakhanovite spirit’s triumph in ’30s Soviet Russia.

That was frantic and gallant. Enjoyed it!
Is Russia the country that has turned out the most classic composers?
It seems there is an endless roster.

One can say whatever he wants about Soviet Russia [and he’d probably be right] but they were impeccable in terms of musical education!
Apart from that, there is an endless list of Russian composers from which I’ve covered a small portion – a huge amount of them old ones [from 17th and 18th century] with absolutely ecstatic religious, choral works which I intent to present when time comes.
