MARILYN MANSON : FUNDAMENTALLY LOATHSOME [MECHANICAL ANIMALS, 1998]

From the most complete album of a “misunderstood” artist.
Mechanical Animals was released in the late ’90s and was an important part of the soundtrack of a turbulent period.
All this
pre-millennium tension returns today, and we experience it much more knowinlgy : it wasn’t just a trend, or a “metaphysical” awe as a landmark date was approaching.
It was an intuition.

And I want to wake up in your
White, white sun
And I want to wake up in your world
With no pain
But I’ll just suffer in a hope to die someday
While you are numb all of the way
When I hate it’s
I know, I can feel here
But when you love, you know it’s not real
No
When I hate it’s
I know, I can feel here
But when you love, you know it’s not real
Now I am resigned to this
Wicked fuckin’ worlds
On its way to Hell
Livin’ are dead and
I hope to join them too
I know what to do? And I do it well
When I hate it’s
I know, I can feel here
But when you love, you know it’s not real
No
When I hate it’s
I know, I can feel here
But when you love, you know it’s not real
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Oh yeah
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Yeah
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Yeah
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Yeah
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you
(Haa, haa, haa, haa)
Shootin’ myself to love you
If I loved myself, I’d been shootin’ you

    Definitely misunderstood!
I, like many, did not really want to give his music a shot due to the name “Manson”.
He has nothing to do with Charles Manson, yet I believe it part of why he never got his propers.
The words in this song are somewhat harsh, yet the music is peaceful.
He was/is an oxymoron in the creative world of music.
