🟡 🟡 With the Gang War being described as Clash of Civilizations unfolding once again in the Persian Gulf, we hear excerpts from Basil Poledouris’ score for Starship Troopers, Paul Verhoeven’s underrated masterpiece of science fiction.

I’m intrigued by what looks like being the album cover. It looks deliberately ‘retro’ but I don’t know if that’s a case of me thinking soundtrack albums didn’t use artwork like that anymore by the mid to late 90s and getting it wrong. It looks rather weathered but also looks like that has been deliberately painted that way. I’m wondering if the style of the cover and weathering is harking back to 50s and 60s album covers acknowledging the author’s book (Robert A Heinlein’s) which was the inspiration for the movie?
You’re absolutely right! It ‘s the vintage cover of the new – first ever – vinyl release of the album by Varese Sarabande.
Ahh…so nice to be right for once! 😁
