THE BEATLES : BACK IN THE USSR + LEMMY COVER

Το track συμπεριλαμβάνεται στη συλλογή hard rock και metal διασκευών Butchering The Beatles – 2006.

It is surprising that none of the analysts of the Beatles’ work have pointed out the hidden “meaning” behind the title and lyrics of the song.
Two elements would suffice for this : the moment at which it was written, i.e. the period The Beatles spent near Maharishi, and the fact that its composer,
Paul McCartney, was the least satisfied with the whole concept : the choice of Soviet Union, homeland & symbol of “dialectical materialism” could be a kind of middle finger to the entrepreneur – guru’s “metaphysics”.
We listen to Paul’s all-time classic, on which incidentally he has also taken on the role of drummer [with excellent results].
And also the cover of the song by
Lemmy Kilmister, accompanied by John 5 [guitar] and Eric Singer [drums]. The track is included on the hard rock & metal cover compilation Butchering The Beatles – 2006.
Lemmy does little credit to the album’s title. After all he was a huge fan of the Beatles, for whom he ‘s rightly stated that …they were the real deal, the real tough guys, in contrast with the Stones, their supposed rivals.

Well, yeah
Woo!
Ooh
Flew in from Miami Beach B.O.A.C
Didn’t get to bed last night
On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man, I had a dreadful flight
I’m back in the U.S.S.R
You don’t know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the U.S.S.R
Been away so long, I hardly knew the place
Gee, it’s good to be back home
Leave it ’til tomorrow to unpack my case
Honey, disconnect the phone
I’m back in the U.S.S.R
You don’t know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the U.S
Back in the U.S
Back in the U.S.S.R
Well
The Ukraine girls really knock me out
They leave the West behind
And Moscow girls make me sing and shout
That Georgia’s always on
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my mind
Oh, come on!
Woo! (Hey)
Woo! (Yeah)
Woo! (Yeah)
Hell, yeah
Hey, I’m back In the U.S.S.R
You don’t know how lucky you are, boys
Back in the U.S.S.R
Well
The Ukraine girls really knock me out
They leave the West behind
And Moscow girls make me sing and shout
That Georgia’s always on
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my mind
Oh, show me ’round your snow-peaked mountains
Way down south
Take me to your daddy’s farm
Let me hear your balalaikas ringing out
Come and keep your comrade warm
I’m back In the U.S.S.R
You don’t know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the U.S.S.R
Oh, let me tell you, honey
Hey, I’m back
I’m back In the U.S.S.R
Hey, it’s so good to be home
Yeah, back In the U.S.S.R

Interesting comment by Lemmy about the Stones. Mick Jagger has always struck me as a poseur.

Me too. In spite of his unquestionably huge performing talents (not to mention the bands legacy), I never liked the guy. Always was and always will be a “Beatles person”.
