The album rises like a monolith out of the haze of the late ‘60s, and the reason it doesn’t belong among the group’s “iconic” works becomes clear after just one listen. We hear all four parts of the “arduous” Sysyphus — a piece that is the product of the underrated genius of the band’s keyboardist (and a particular favourite of mine) Richard Wright.
