Απ΄τη στιγμή που ο Peter Hammill εμφανίσθηκε στο φετινό φεστιβάλ BBC Proms στο Royal Albert Hall (προσπαθώ να εξορκίσω την ιδέα ότι η επιλογή του ‘Refugees’ έγινε για λόγους …σχετικούς με την αγγλική επικαιρότητα), μεγάλο διαδικτυακό σούσουρο έχει ξεσπάσει γι’ αυτόν και τη μουσική του, σόλο και με το γκρουπ, με βίντεο – συνεντεύξεις κλιμακούμενης παλαιότητας αλλά και διάφορους τύπους να περιγράφουν την πρώτη τους επαφή …σήμερα, με κομμάτια όπως το ‘A Louse Is Not A Home’ ή το ‘A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers’. Σε οποιαδήποτε περίπτωση, το πράγμα θα είχε ενδιαφέρον, αν κάτι επρόκειτο να μείνει απ’ αυτή την ιστορία – κάτι για το οποίο έχω λόγους να αμφιβάλλω. From the moment Peter Hammill appeared at this year’s BBC Proms festival at the Royal Albert Hall (I am trying to exorcise the idea that the choice of ‘Refugees’ was made for reasons … related to current English affairs), a great online stir has broken out about him and his music, solo and with the group, with videos – interviews of escalating age as well as various types describing their first contact … today, with pieces such as ‘A Louse Is Not A Home’ or ‘A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers’. In any case, the whole thing would be of interest if something were going to remain from this story – something about which I have reasons to doubt.
