NAT KING COLE / BLUE MITCHELL : A PORTRAIT OF JENNIE

Δυο ακόμα από τους καλλιτέχνες του March born musicians club. Σε ένα κομμάτι του J. Russel Robinson, εμπνευσμένο από την ομώνυμη ταινία του 1948.
Ο μέγας
Nat King Cole, live με τους Oscar Moore – gt, Leslie Prince – db σε βίντεο από το Ed Sullivan Show των late ‘40s [προτιμώ την εκτέλεση του NKC Trio από την ορχηστρική]
Και ο σημαντικός τρομπετίστας – συνθέτης
Blue Mitchell, στη live βερσιόν του κομματιού [μετονομασμένου σε “A Portrait Of Jenny”] από το Blue Mitchell Live, 1995.
Το υλικό του άλμπουμ είχε ηχογραφηθεί στα middle ‘70s, στο Half Moon Bay. Η μπάντα : Mark Levine – p, Kenny Jenkins – db, Smiley Winters – d.

Two more artists from the March born musicians club, on a song by J. Russel Robinson, inspired by the 1948 film of the same name.
The great
Nat King Cole, live with Oscar Moore – gt, Leslie Prince – db on a video from the Ed Sullivan Show – late ’40s [I prefer NKC Trio’s performance to the orchestral]
And the significant trumpeter – composer
Blue Mitchell, on a live take of the song [renamed “A Portrait Of Jenny”] from Blue Mitchell Live, 1995.
The album’s material was recorded in the middle ’70s on Half Moon Bay. The band : Mark Levine – p, Kenny Jenkins – db, Smiley Winters – d.

I prefer the instrumental version. The lyrics are kinda cheesy.

They sure are. But to me watching the Trio is always a treat. I’m a big fan of Nat Cole’s particular period. The reason I haven’t posted much of it is that people don’t seem to find it particularly interesting.
I agree of course about Blue Mitchel’s version been more mean business.
