MILES DAVIS : FRELON BRUN (BROWN HORNET) [FILLES DE KILIMANJARO, 1968]

Τo 1968, χρονιά της κυκλοφορίας του δισκογραφικού του ντεμπούτου ως leader, ο Corea συμμετέχει στο άλμπουμ του Miles Davis Filles De Kilimanjaro, αντικαθιστώντας σε κάποια sessions τον Herbie Hancock. Τον ακούμε σε ένα από αυτά, στο ηλεκτρικό πιάνο. Miles Davis – τρομπέτα, Wayne Shorter – τενόρο σαξόφωνο, Dave Holland μπάσο, Tony Williams – ντραμς.

In 1968, same year he released his debut album as a leader,
Corea participates on Filles De Kilimanjaro by Miles Davis, as Herbie Hancock’s replacement on some of the sessions. We hear him one of these, on the electric piano.
Miles Davis – trumpet, Wayne Shorter – tenor saxophone, Dave Holland – bass, Tony Williams – drums.

    Fabulous, and I especially love the drums in this. …. The cymbal is so soft at times. Were brushes used?

      Nope. Pure drumsticks here. But it’s one of the greatest players of all times, Tony Williams [he joined Miles’ band at 17 years of age…]
