Υπό τον τίτλο ‘Τραγούδια Χωρίς Λόγια’ ο Felix Mendelssohn κυκλοφόρησε συνολικά 48 μικρής διάρκειας κομμάτια για πιάνο, χωρισμένα σε 8 συλλογές των 6. Πρόκειται για μια από τις πιο μελωδικές και δημοφιλείς πλευρές του έργου του.
Σε φίλο που του είχε προτείνει να προσαρμόσει στίχους σε κάποια, ώστε να αποτελέσουν κυριολεκτικά τραγουδια, ο συνθέτης έδωσε μια εκπληκτική απάντηση : “Αυτό που εκφράζει για μένα η μουσική που αγαπώ, δεν είναι πολύ αόριστο αλλά πολύ συγκεκριμένο για να εκφραστεί με λόγια”.
Το πρώτο και δεύτερο απ’ τα ‘Τραγούδια’ που ακούμε ερμηνεύει ο Daniel Barenboim. Το τρίτο η Alicia Delarrocha.

Under the title ‘Songs Without Words’ Felix Mendelssohn released a total of 48 short piano pieces, divided into 8 collections of 6. This is one of the most melodic and popular aspects of his work.
To a friend of his who’d suggested that he put lyrics to some, so that they would literally become songs, the composer gave a brilliant answer: “What the music I love expresses to me, is not thought too indefinite to put into words, but on the contrary, too definite”.
The first and second of the ‘Songs’ we hear are performed by Daniel Barenboim. The third by Alicia Delarrocha.
