FLAMIN’ GROOVIES : SHAKE SOME ACTION (1976)

🟡 🟡 Various labels had been given to the Flamin’ Groovies back in the ’70s, from the “American Stones”, to the “harbingers of punk“. Useless words, of course, but this did not prevent the group from San Francisco from releasing some great songs. Like ‘Shake Some Action’ which happens to be one of my all-time favorite.

I will find a way
To get to you some day.
Oh, but I, babe, I’m so afraid I’ll fall, yeah.
Now can’t you hear me call?
Shake some action’s what I need
To let me bust out at full speed.
I’m sure that’s all you need
To make it all right.
It’s taken me so long
To get where I belong
Oh, but, oh, please don’t send me back that way, yeah.
For I will make you pay.
Shake some action’s what I need
To let me bust out at full speed.
I’m sure that’s all you need
To make it all right.
If you don’t dig what I say
Then I will go away.
And I won’t come back this again. No.
‘Cause I don’t need a friend.
Shake some action’s what I need
To let me bust out at full speed.
I’m sure that’s all you need
To make it all right.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, yours truly went two full days straight with a 3-hour sleep break, listening to this song non-stop. 😃

There is (…there was, for me anyway) something insanely addictive about this song! I suppose it has to do with the repetitive riff. And of course with my mood at the particular moment. 🫨
