Ακούμε δυο απ’ αυτά, ‘Get Back’ & ‘Hey Jude’. Το πρώτο αποτελούσε ποίκιλμα στα live του, μιξαρισμένο με το δικό του ‘Little Sister’ [Pomus/Shuman].
John Lennon was the most renowned Elvis fan among the Beatles. Not that Paul was any less – the love for him and Little Richard was what brought them together.
In any case, Elvis had a preference for McCartney’s songs [… and George’s “Something], some of which he has performed.
We hear two of them, ‘Get Back’ & ‘Hey Jude’. The first one was a kind of flourish in the live shows, mixed with his own ‘Little Sister’ [Pomus/Schuman].
Well, I dated your big sister
And took her to a show
I went for some candy
Along came Jim Dandy
And they snuck right out of the door
Every time I see your sister
Well she’s got somebody new
She’s mean and she’s evil
Like that old Boll Weevil
Guess I’ll try my luck with you
Well, I used to pull your pigtails
And pinch your turned-up nose
But you been a growin’
And baby, it’s been showin’
From your head down to your toes
Little sister, don’t you
Little sister, don’t you
Little sister, don’t you kiss me once or twice
Then say it’s very nice
And then you run
Little sister, don’t you
Do what your big sister done
Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
Hey Jude, don’t be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain,
Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.
Hey Jude, don’t let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin,
You’re waiting for someone to perform with.
And don’t you know that it’s just you, hey Jude, you’ll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.
Hey Jude, don’t make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you’ll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.
Na na na nananana, nannana, hey Jude…
(repeat X number of times, fade)

Elvis with “Get Back,” yes. Elvis with “Hey, Jude,” no.
I don’t disagree it’s not his best. But, honestly, the worst of Elvis will do just fine for me! 😊
🙂
I’m a fan of both and loved this! 🙂
Me too, needless to say. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Elvis had a beautiful and unique voice. He has been copied to the moon, but never equalled.
I enjoyed this music selection a lot. Thank you!
