DMITRI SHOSTAKOVITCH [1906-1975] : CHAMBER SYMPHONY IN C Minor, op. 110a

Back to the Malevolent Project. From the country of black metal’s origin, we hear the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra in Shostakovitch’s Chamber Symphony in C minor, Op. 110a. It is a transcription for strings orchestra of the No. 8 quartet by Rudolf Barshai.
One of the rear occasions on which I prefer video to mp3, is when I discover a performance like this : beyond description, sound quality included.

I don’t normally ‘dig’ Shostakovich (much more a Prokofiev fan) but this was really very good. Very good indeed.

      I couldn’t agree more.
I consider Prokofiev as the Mozart of the XX century – if such a reference has a meaning.
This is one of Shostakovitch’s works I really like, but it was the performance that blew me away!

Yes I like that comparison. Very apt!

As often, I know naught of what I heard, but wow!
This is super, and what a joy to watch the performance. I can’t thank you enough!
