BOMB IRAN / I CRY FOR IRAN

Those who have read The Art of War may recall the Sun Tzu saying: “The whole secret lies in confusing the enemy, so that he cannot fathom our real intent”. The tactic of “confusing the enemy” remains dominant in modern military doctrines as well. Combining this with the fact that President DT is not addressing his statements solely to the standard enemy (Iran) but also to those he has repeatedly labeled as enemies “of the people”—namely the media—one wonders about the level of all those who mockingly comment on his back-and-forth declarations. Now, as to which of the two is more dangerous—someone truly reckless, or someone who knows how to create the impression that he is—let that be left to each person’s judgment. We, for our part, will contribute to the confusion with our humble means: a war-mongering (?) song by the doo-woppers from Louisiana, Vince Vance & The Valiants, released in 1980 (a parody of “Barbara Ann”, made famous by the Beach Boys), packaged with an anti-war track by Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, ten years later, from his solo album Walk On Water.

02:25 I CRY FOR IRAN
I see the dust move across the sand
I sense the work of an unseen hand
A field of soldiers on their knees
Await the rain comes from the seas
I feel the lash on my back, I’m on the run
Walk on water, walk on land,
Try to be civil, don’t confuse your right with your left hand
A thousand children cross the plain
The keys they hold, they serve the grain
As they go past, their voices disappear
The lake is frozen, I wanna forget
Everything that hasn’t happened yet
But I remember where I’ve been, I’m on the run
Walk on water, walk on land,
Try to be civil, don’t confuse your right with your left hand
I cry for love, I cry for man,
I cry for woman and I don’t understand,
I cry for love
I’ve been to see the smiling one
His shadow moves across the sun
The sand’s ablaze, and now the darkness drops again
The columns move, no turning back
The fires burn, the sky grows black
I feel a hand at my throat, I’m on the run
Walk on water, walk on land,
Try to be civil, don’t confuse your right with your left hand
I cry for love, I cry for man,
I cry for woman and I don’t understand,
I cry for love (I cry for love), I cry for man (I cry for love)
I cry for children, and I cry for Iran
I cry for love
I cry for love,
I cry for man, (I cry for love)
I cry for children and I cry for Iran
I cry for love (I cry for love),
I cry for man (I cry for love)
I cry for woman, and I don’t understand
