On this date, December 13, 1949, Thomas Miller, better known as Tom Verlaine, was born in New Jersey. Singer-songwriter, guitarist and leader of the historic, although ephemeral Television.
The New York – based band released two albums before splitting in the late ‘70s [a short reunion and another album would follow in 1992], with Verlaine going solo.
We hear a song from their second album, with excellent guitar work.
The elevator called me up
She said, “You better start making sense.
“The stone was bleeding
Whirling in the waltz
I went to see Her Majesty
The court had no suspense
She said, “Dream dreams the dreamer.
“I said, “It’s not my fault.”

Great song and love the lyrics, too!
Found my head bopping up and down, to this music I knew not of!
They were prominent in the CBGB scene of the middle – late ’70s, along with Talking Heads, Ramones, Blondie etc.
Here’s another song – including an extrordinary guitar solo from Verlaine. https://oannes.gr/television-marquee-moon-marquee-moon-1977/
Thanks! Heading over for a listen!
