Theodorakis puts Tasos Leivaditis’ poetry to music. The composer’s own interpretation, slightly grotesque, somehow maximizes the grandiosity of the moment.
In any case, one of MT’ s songs I listen to standing at attention.

I put the words in a translator, in an attempt to understand why you stand at attention.
I’m not sure… I think you stand for life and everything we don’t know, but is coming.
    Sober song!

I use it as a metaphor. When the emotion is very high, “standing at attention” is a way of saying that I’m transfixed.

        LOL! Silly me.
Well, it is high emotion. Thank you for explaining! I’m sure I’ll think of you often now, when I’m transfixed.
I’m quite happy I translated the poetry. The composition is more complete, and enjoyable.
