Ο Washboard Sam είναι ένας από τους αγαπημένους μου blues singers – songwriters. Το “φερώνυμο” κρουστό που χειριζόταν, διαδεδομένο στην εποχή του, είναι στην ουσία η ραβδωτή μεταλλική ράχη μιας συσκευής πλυσίματος-στο-χέρι. Ξεχασμένος σε μεγάλο βαθμό σήμερα, υπήρξε από τους δημοφιλέστερους bluesmen της σκηνής του Chicago στις δεκαετίες του ’30, ’40.

Washboard Sam is one of my favorite blues singers – songwriters. The percussion from which he took his name, much popular back in the day, is essentially the ribbed metal back of a cleaning device. Largely forgotten today, he was one of the prominent bluesmen of the Chicago scene in the 1930s, ’40s.
