Ένα απ’ τα credits που αξίζουν post rock γκρουπ όπως οι Tortoise είναι ότι επανέφεραν το ενδιαφέρον του κοινού για ιδιώματα των ’70s, όπως το prog και το fusion, δυσφημισμένα απ’ την “επανάσταση του DIY”. Αυτό, επαναπροσεγγίζοντάς τα από μια kraut οπτική, και με έμφαση στην ambient παράμετρο, καλλιεργημένη – ξανά στα ’70s – από καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Fripp και Eno. They done it re-approaching them through a krautrock lens and with a strong emphasis on the ambient element, cultivated – again in the 70s – by artists like Fripp and Eno.
