THE SWINGLE SINGERS : BACH’S PRELUDE AND FUGUE No 10 in E minor (1968)

Johann Sebastian Βach από την πρώτη, γαλλική βερσιόν του φωνητικού γκρουπ του Ward Swingle. Σύμφωνα με τους καθαρολόγους, επρόκειτο για ιεροσυλία. Κάποιοι μίλησαν για “τολμηρούς πειραματισμούς”. Για άλλους πάλι, ήταν “απλώς” διασκέδαση αξιώσεων. Συμφωνώ με τους τελευταίους, επαυξάνοντας:…και εξακολουθεί να είναι.

Johann Sebastian Bach from the first, French version by Ward Swingle’s vocal group. According to purists, it was sacrilege. Some talked about “bold experimentation.” For others it was “just” high-end entertainment. I agree with the later, adding: …and still is.

    I think Bach would have been delighted with this! I think he would have been less impressed with Glenn Gould humming (badly) and moaning his way through the Goldbergs!
