1978. Μετά το σοκ και δέος, την κατακεραυνωτική έκρηξη αδρεναλίνης που αντιπροσώπευε ο πρώτος τους δίσκος [για μένα ό,τι πιο “μουσικό” έχει προκύψει από το είδος του punk, οποιασδήποτε περιόδου] οι Damned χαμηλώνουν ελαφρώς τους τόνους, ηχογραφώντας ένα πιο φιλόδοξο άλμπουμ. Παραγωγός είναι ο Nick Mason των Pink Floyd [!] ενώ σε ένα κομμάτι συμμετέχει ο σαξοφωνίστας Lol Coxhil.
Το ‘Music For Pleasure’ είναι το τελευταίο του κιθαρίστα / βασικού συνθέτη Brian James με το γκρουπ, και δεν έχει μικρό μερίδιο σε σπουδαίες στιγμές. Όπως αυτή εδώ.

After the shock and awe, the thundering explosion of adrenaline that their first album represented [to me, the most “musical” thing ever to emerge out of the punk genre, of any period] The Damned slightly lower the tones, recording something more ambitious. Nick Mason of Pink Floyd is the producer [!] while the saxophonist Lol Coxhil participates in one song.
‘Music For Pleasure’ is the last of guitarist/lead composer Brian James with the band, and has no little share in great moments. Like this one.
