THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND : ONE WAY OUT / DON’T KEEP ME WONDERIN’

Πίσω στις ρίζες για λίγο, με δυο τραγούδια των Allman Brothers Band, από ισάριθμα all-time classic άλμπουμ : ‘Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’’ από το δεύτερο τους, Idlewild South του 1970 και ‘One Way Out’ (Ellmore James, αποδιδόμενο στον Sonny Boy Williamson) από το Eat A Peach, πρώτη κυκλοφορία τους μετά την απώλεια του Duane Allman (1972). H συγκεκριμένη live ηχογράφηση είναι από τις τελευταίες τους με το μεγάλο κιθαρίστα λίγους μήνες πριν το δυστύχημα. 🔴 🔴 Back to the roots for a bit, with two songs by the Allman Brothers Band from two all-time classic albums: ‘Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’’ from their second album, Idlewild South (1970), and ‘One Way Out’ (Elmore James, attributed to Sonny Boy Williamson) from Eat a Peach, their first release after the loss of Duane Allman (1972). This particular live recording is from one of their last with the great guitarist, a few months before the accident.

ONE WAY OUT
Ain’t but one way out, baby
Lord, I just can’t go out the door
Ain’t but one way out, baby
And Lord, I just can’t go out the door
‘Cause there’s a man down there
Might be your man, I don’t know
Lord, you got me trapped, woman, up on the second floor
If I get by this time, I won’t be trapped no more, oh
So raise your window, baby, and I can ease out soft and slow
And Lord, your neighbors, no, they won’t be
Talking that stuff that they don’t know
Lord, I’m foolish to be here on the first place
I know some man gonna walk in and take my place, Lord
Ain’t no way in the world I’m going out that front door
‘Cause there’s a man down there
Might be your man, I don’t know
‘Cause there’s a man down there
Might be your man, I don’t know
‘Cause there’s a man down there, Lord
Lord, it just might happen to be your man, yeah
Lord, it just a might be your man, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm
Lord, it just might be your man, oh baby, oh baby
I ain’t gonna take none of ’em foolish chances
‘Cause I just right don’t know

DON’T KEEP ME WONDERIN’
Oh, tell me ’bout the car I saw
Parked outside your door
Tell me what you left me waiting
Two or three hours for
Tell me why when the phone rings baby
You’re up and across the floor
Please don’t keep me wonderin’ no longer
I think about the bad times
Lord I think about yours and mine
You were lost in the silver spoon
Thought I pulled you out in time
And I hope that you got reasons
For the way that you’ve been lyin’
Please don’t keep me wonderin’ no longer
I think I’m gonna go now
But you know that I’ll be back
Now you can think it over Baby
Tell me how you’re gonna act
I’m gonna keep on holding on
But I don’t get no stronger
Please don’t keep me wonderin’ no longer

I LOVE this! My brother had the “Eat a Peach Album,” and I could hear it playing through the furnace register that connected our bedrooms. I’m familiar with the G. L. Crockett version of “One Way Out.”

This one (‘It’s a Man Down There’) is pretty cool also!
