STAR TREK ANNIVERSARY : ENTERPRISE FLYBY

Για την ιστορία, το πρώτο επεισόδιο του τηλεοπτικού Star Trek, ’The Man Trap’ προβλήθηκε σαν σήμερα,
8 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1966.

The official view, circulated by “critics” and fans, is that the first
Star Trek motion picture (1979) was not a great film, despite its box office success. This, due to its …slow pace and lack of intense action. As for my own experience with it, as a teenager, raised on the Star Trek TV series from a tender age, it will forever remain unforgettable. Chief among its highlights is this 4:44-long sequence of pure Enterprise porn.
For the record, the first episode of the Star Trek TV series, ‘The Man Trap’, aired on this day,
September 8, 1966.

Ahhhh what a delight! For my mind, the first movie was always the best of the lot (though that’s a low bar for one or two of them). While very different to the series and other movies, it was, and still is, iconic. I think the special effects still stand up pretty well too. What I hadn’t thought about before though is just how much the theme tune to Star Trek: Next Generation borrows from this particular arrangement of the tune. I always thought of it as an independent arrangement of the original theme, but this track here you could easily tell me was a slowed down version of the sequel TV show!

You’re right of course about the track! To me also this was the best Star Trek movie along with “The Search For Spock” – the scene of Spock recognizing Kirk (“Jim …your name is Jim”) had me in tears. 🥹🥲😃

    Love this, thank you!
I’m a huge fan of the original Star Trek. As happy as I am for how Star Trek has morphed over the years, it is the original series and movies that I love.
