SARAH VAUGHAN, GEORGE SHEARING, JOHN COLTRANE

Η “θεϊκή” Sarah Vaughan (1959), οι πολυφωνιστές χωρίς σύνορα The King’s Singers (1991), σε συνεργασία με το μεγάλο George Shearing, και το κουαρτέτο του John Coltrane (1962 – McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garison, Elvin Jones), ξεκινώντας από διαφορετικές αφετηρίες …συγκλίνουν σε κοινή κατεύθυνση, παίρνοντας κι εμάς μαζί τους : Out of this world. Το κομμάτι γράφτηκε από τους Harold Allen, Johnny Mercer, μουσική και στίχοι αντίστοιχα, το 1944. 🔴 🔴 The “Divine” Sarah Vaughan (1959), the borderless polyphonists The King’s Singers (1991) in collaboration with the great George Shearing, and The John Coltrane Quartet (1962 – McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones), setting out from different starting points… converge in a common direction, taking us along with them: Out of This World. The piece was written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer, music and lyrics respectively, in 1944.

You’re clear out of this world

When I’m looking at you

I hear out of this world

The music that no mortal ever knew
You’re right out of a book

The fairy tale I read when I was five

No armored knight out of a book

was more enchanted by a Loralei then I
After waiting so long

for the right time

After reaching so long for a star

All at once from long and lonely night time

And despite time, here you are
I cry, “Out of this world”

If you said we were through

So let me fly out of this world

And spend the next eternity or two with you
