QUEEN : I’M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR [1975]

Από το magnum opus των Queen, A Night At The Opera.

The flip side of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, composed by drummer
Roger Taylor who also emerges here as an excellent singer, with Freddie Mercury on backing vocals.
From
Queen’s magnum opus, A Night At The Opera.

The machine of a dream
Such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumpin’
Аnd the hubcaps all gleam
When I’m holding your wheel
Аll I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
Oooh, it’s like a disease, son
I’m in love with my car
Got a feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy-racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal
Told my girl I’d have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So, she made tracks, saying
“This is the end now”
“Cars don’t talk back”
“They’re just four-wheeled friends, now”
When I’m holding your wheel
Аll I hear is your gear
When I’m cruisin’ in overdrive
Don’t have to listen
To no run-of-the-mill talk jive
I’m in love with my car
(In love with my car, in love with my car)
Got a feel for my automobile
I’m in love with my car
(In love with my car, in love with my car)
String back gloves in my automo-love

For the love of cars. Another good one. Do you remember albums like “Shut Down”, which was a compilation of car songs? The car culture is being forced to change with governments trying to force electric cars down our throats. A Prius or even a Tesla, in it’s silent drive, are rather uninspiring in my opinion. Electric cars go fast, but not for very long as their batteries get sucked down as fast as they move forward. Speed Kills batteries!

No I didn’t know about this compilation… I just checked it out, I haven’t heard some of the tracks. Seems like real cool stuff.
I fully agree about the electric cars, not to mention the self-driven ones! I suppose it’s all about control, the electric car puts limits to where and how fast you can go, the self -driven [the ultimate future] turns you into a crash test dummy, even leaving you exposed to car hackers!

Unfortunately, I think all new cars can be hacked. I have my old 1982 Ford pickup that has no computers. Points, plugs and condenser. What a concept.

The other day a guy asked me if I had jumper cables, and if I could help him get his car started. I do carry jumper cables and hooked them up on his car, a BMW. The car wouldn’t attempt to start. I got in his car and noticed he didn’t need a jump, he needed to maintain the car. Every warning message you could imagine was crawling across the screen on the dashboard. He had apparently had not done required maintenance on the car, and the onboard computer wouldn’t let him start the car because doing so would probably ruin the engine. I told him he was going to have to get it towed.

The car sat in the parking lot at our office for almost two weeks before it got towed away. He must have been trying to keep up an image he couldn’t afford. Everything for a BMW starts at $1000.

I like Mazdas because they are great looking, sporty cars that are reasonably priced and one can afford to maintain them.

Aww, nice! I don’t know this Queen song. When it comes to Queen, I am a late bloomer.
