Την σύνθεση του Mongo Santamaria “Afro Blue” επεξεργάζεται ο αειθαλής [μέχρι σήμερα] “πατέρας του σύγχρονου jazz drumming” Roy Haynes, 78 χρόνων τη στιγμή της ηχογράφησης του ‘Love Letters’ [2002] με μουσικούς όπως ο Kenny Barron, ο Dave Holland και ο John Scofield.

Αμέσως μετά η αυθεντική ερμηνεία του κομματιού από την θρυλική Abbey Lincoln, τραγουδίστρια, songwriter και ακτιβίστρια του civil rights movement – από το άλμπουμ της ‘Abbey Is Blue’ του 1959…
