OASIS : GOING NOWHERE [1997]

Ένα από το λιγότερο ακουστά τραγούδια των Oasis, αν και γλυκύτατο κατά την άποψή μου, είναι τo “Going Nowhere”. Κυκλοφόρησε το 1997 σαν συνοδευτικό του single τους, “Stand Be Me” [1997] και για πρώτη φορά σε άλμπουμ στο compilation με b-sides The Master Plan [1998].
Τραγουδισμένο από τον μεγάλο αδελφό και συνθέτη του,
Noel Gallagher.

One of the least heard songs by
Oasis, though a very sweet one in my opinion, is “Going Nowhere”. It was released in 1997 as an accompaniment to their single, “Stand Be Me” [1997] and for the first time on album, on the b-sides compilation The Master Plan [1998].
Sung by the composer, big brother Noel Gallagher.

Hate the way that you’ve taken back
Everything you’ve given to me
And the way that you’d always say
It’s nothing to do with me
Different versions of many men
Come before you came
All their questions was similar
The answers just the same
I’m gonna get me a motor car
Maybe a Jaguar maybe a plane or a day of fame
I’m gonna be a millionaire so can you take me there
want to be wild ’cause my life’s so tame
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, growing older in the rain
Hey hey hey hey
Hate the way that you’ve taken back
Everything you’ve given to me
Any way that you always say
It’s nothing to do with me
Different versions of many men
Come before you came
All their questions was similar
The answers just the same
I’m gonna get me a motor car
Maybe a Jaguar maybe a plane or a day of fame
I’m gonna be a millionaire so can you take me there
want to be wild ’cause my life’s so same
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, growing older in the rain
Here am I, going nowhere on a train
Here am I, getting lost and lonely sad and only
Why sometimes does my life feel so tame ?
Hey hey hey hey

I have never had a Jaguar, but I always loved the XKE. I assume you are familiar with Jan & Dean’s “Dead Man’s Curve”? You also probably remember Harold’s groovy transformation of an XKE into a hearse in “Harold and Maude”?

I love Jean & Dean maybe more than the Beach Boys. And I remember being very touched by that movie! Thank you for the reminder!

I always liked J&D much more than the Beach Boys. J&D were more fun to listen to. H&M is an excellent movie.
