Δύο από τις άπειρες βερσιόν του all-time blues classic.
Έχει ενδιαφέρον το κοντράστ ανάμεσα στην έκρυθμη κατάσταση της πρώτης ηχογράφησης, με τις κραυγές που βγαίνουν νομίζεις απ’ τα έγκατα της γης [Muddy Waters – Rollin And Tumblin Part 2, 1950] και το air of confidence που αποπνέει η δεύτερη [Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, 1991] προϊόν μιας εποχής όπου ο blues man απολαμβάνει πλέον το status του αξιοσέβαστου καλλιτέχνη.
Two of the numerous versions of the all-time blues classic.
There is an interesting contrast between the deranged state of the first recording, with hollers coming out of the bowels of the earth [Muddy Waters – Rollin And Tumblin Part 2, 1950] and the air of confidence exuded by the second one [Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, 1991] a product of an era in which the blues man enjoys at last the status of a respectable artist.
Well, I rolled and I tumbled
Cried the whole night long
Well, I rolled and I tumbled
Cried the whole night long
When I woke up this morning
Didn’t know right or wrong
Well, if the river was a whiskey
And I was a diving duck
If the river was a whiskey
And I was a diving duck
Well, I would dive to the bottom
I’d swear, I’d never come up
Well, I coulda had religion
In this bad old Sunday
I coulda had religion
In this bad old Sunday
But whiskey and bad love
Wouldn’t let me have my way
I rolled and I tumbled
And I rolled and I tumbled
I rolled and I tumbled

I know I shouldn’t judge, but these guys make more modern blues sound precocious, undeveloped in reality.
Love me those blues!
That’s very good, because I’m planning to keep up with this mood for a while! Thank you!
No complaints from me!
