Με την ευγενική φροντίδα του Donald Trump, τα απανταχού ειδησεογραφικά δίκτυα εισάγουν στο (μόνιμα υψηλού σασπένς) ρεπερτόριό τους το θέμα των UFOs. Όχι για λόγους ενημέρωσης, αλλά αποπροσανατολισμού απ’ τα αληθινά ενδιαφέροντα. Η είσοδος βέβαια και μόνο …εξωγήινων στο “άβατο” του mainstream υποδηλώνει ότι τα θέματα απ’ τα οποία πρέπει να αποσπαστεί η προσοχή …παραείναι σοβαρά. Το ποια είναι αυτά, αφήνεται στην κρίση του καθένα – αυτό είναι ένα blog κυρίως με μουσικές προτάσεις, και σχόλια παρεμπίπτοντα. Ακούμε τη live εκδοχή του ‘Maiysha’ απ΄το “αμφιλεγόμενο” όπως τα περισσότερα των ‘70s άλμπουμ του Miles Davis, Agharta. Η μπάντα, με έμφαση στις κιθάρες των Pete Cosey, Reggie Lucas, συμπληρώνεται από τους Sonny Fortune (σαξόφωνο, φλάουτο) Michael Henderson (μπάσο), Al Foster (drums) and James Mtume (percussion). Όπως μαρτυρούν τίτλος και εξώφυλλο, θέμα που απασχολεί εδώ τον MD είναι η μυθική, υπόγεια, κατοικούμενη από υπερανθρώπους πόλη που κάποιοι τοποθετούν κάτω από τα Ιμαλάια. H Agartha συνδέεται φυσικά με την υπόθεση της Κούφιας Γης, πρωτοδιατυπωμένη από τον περιώνυμο αστρονόμο Edmond Halleyτον 17ο αιώνα, απομυθοποιημένη (;) τον επόμενο. Ένα ακόμα αιώνα μετά, το 1871, θα επακολουθούσε το περίφημο The Coming Race του Edward Bulwer-Lytton (ελληνικός τίτλος : Η Επόμενη Φυλή) από τα πρώτα μυθιστορήματα επιστημονικής φαντασίας με καθοριστική επιρροή σε μεταγενέστερους συγγραφείς, όπως ο HG Wells. Αξιοσημείωτη είναι η εικόνα του οπισθόφυλλου του δίσκου (βλ. αριστερά) : η προέλευση των ιπτάμενων δίσκων έχει προ πολλού αποδοθεί από διάφορους, όχι σε εξωγήινους αλλά σε αλλότριους γήινους πολιτισμούς, υποβρύχιους ή υπόγειους – Cryptoterrestrial Hypothesis. 🟡 🟡 With Donald Trump’s kind assistance, news networks everywhere are adding the topic of UFOs to their (permanently high-suspense) repertoire. The mere fact that …aliens have entered the mainstream “sanctum” suggests that the matters from which public attention must be diverted are far too serious. What exactly those are is left to each reader’s judgment — this is primarily a blog with music proposals and occasional side comments. We’re listening to the live version of ‘Maiysha’ from Miles Davis’ Agharta — an album as controversial as most of his ‘70s output. The band, with emphasis on Pete Cosey & Reggie Lucas’ guitars is completed by Sonny Fortune (sax, flute) Michael Henderson (bass), Al Foster (drums) and James Mtume (percussion). As the title and cover suggest, the theme occupying MD here is the mythical underground city inhabited by superhumans, which some locate beneath the Himalayas. Agartha is of course connected to the Hollow Earth hypothesis, first formulated by the famous astronomer Edmond Halley in the late 17th century (1692), and largely debunked in the following one. A century later, in 1871, Edward Bulwer-Lytton’s famous novel The Coming Race followed — one of the earliest works of science fiction, with a decisive influence on later writers such as H.G. Wells. Notable is the image on the back cover of the album (see left) : the origin of flying saucers has long been attributed by various researchers not to extraterrestrials, but to other earthly civilizations, underwater or underground – the Cryptoterrestrial Hypothesis.
