Τα δυο αυτά τραγούδια συνθέτουν μια ενότητα που κατά την άποψή μου αποτελεί το αποκορύφωμα της μουσικής τέχνης ενός ανθρώπου που διαμόρφωσε το ροκ ιδίωμα όσο ελάχιστοι. Μπορεί το πρώτο Velvet να έμεινε στην ιστορία [όχι πως δεν το άξιζε] αλλά το αγαπημένο μου άλμπουμ του Lou Reed είναι το Berlin – μια μνημειώδης παραγωγή του Bob Ezrin.
These two songs compose a unity which, in my view, is the culmination of the music art of a man who influenced the rock idiom as few others did. Maybe the first Velvet U was the one that went down in history [not that it didn’t deserve it] but my favorite Lou Reed album is Berlin – a monumental Bob Ezrin production.

After listening to these, two words come to mind: masterful and haunting, particularly the first one.
I agree. The producer plays a significant role here, but it’s the melody, especially the first one, that’ s absolutely haunting. Never liked this guy as a character, but hat off to his talent.
Πραγματικα απιστευτη η παραγωγη .. Αναρωτιεμαι αν ο J.Cale χρησιμοποιησε ποτε παραγωγο. Ακουσα 3-4 κομματια απ το νεο του αλμπουμ , και μοιαζει να ερχεται απο αλλο πλανητη ..

Φαίνεται δύσκολο ο John Cale να επαφίετο σε κάποιον άλλο για την παραγωγή των άλμπουμ του, μια και είναι ο ίδιος legendary παραγωγός, μεταξύ άλλων των Stooges και των Modern Lovers.
Ανήκει στις περιπτώσεις “ανθρώπων του ροκ” με ακαδημαϊκές γνώσεις, άλλωστε βασικός λόγος που το πρώτο Velvet ηχεί όπως ηχεί, είναι …αυτός. Η παραγωγή του Andy Warhol συνίστατο στην “ατμοσφαιρική” προσθήκη της Nico, κατά τ’άλλα “ο Andy ήταν απλώς εκεί” και “η παρουσία του ήταν πηγή έμπνευσης” όπως έχει δηλώσει ο ίδιος ο JC.
Η παραγωγή συνίστατο στην παροχή απόλυτης καλλιτεχνικής ελευθερίας στο γκρουπ – σοφή προσέγγιση, όταν μιλάμε για ένα γκρουπ σαν τους VU.
Θα το ακούσω, thanks – να πω το κρίμα μου, δεν είμαι ιδιαίτερα οπαδός του Cale, ασχέτως εκτιμήσεως. Ως εκ τούτου δεν τον παρακολουθώ τόσο εκ του σύνεγγυς.
Oυτε κι εγω ( με τους παλαιοθεν ποπ ψυχαναγκασμους μου) μπορω να πω οτι εχω παρακολουθησει τον J.Cale ιδιαιτερως , πιο πολυ μ αρεσει η ..ιδεα που εχω για τον J.Cale παρα oτιδηποτε αλλο. Αν κι εκεινος ο δισκος με τον Br. Eno ειναι απ τους αγαπημενους..
Ο νεος δισκος εχει πολυ βαρια “εντεχνη” electronica (sic ) παραγωγη , κι ομως σε ταξιδευει σε καποιες απ τις απατητες γωνιες του εγκεφαλου ..
