Jimmy Somerville has claimed some years ago that he “chose to disappear” because he couldn’t manage getting too much attention. It may be so, although my sense is that, quite simply, the man’s ethos ceased to be compatible with the current show business – not that he was ever “in perfect harmony” with it.
