One of the very important musical figures born this month is 76-year-old James Newell Osterberg Jr., a.k.a. Iggy Pop, genitor of punk, the man who turned howling into art.
‘Dum-Dum Boys’, music by Bowie, lyrics by Pop – dedicated to The Stooges, his historic band, may not be one of his best-known songs, but it is a masterpiece in every respect, production been no exception. One of the most “addictive” things I’ve ever heard – at least as a teenager.
