Techno, for sure, but what makes it Detroit? I like it!
It is the name of a dance music genre * You can play Detroit techno no matter where you come from. As a matter of fact, it’ s still part of the club culture in places like Germany, some 40 years after its invention in …Detroit😊
* Basically (to cut a long story short) it was disco returning to its underground roots in full electronic / minimal form : elementary melodies, synthesized sounds, robotic rhythms by drum machines etc. It began in the early ’80s and had its “commercial” edge in the ’90s, but was never too popular. Used to dance on stuff like this myself in the ’90s.
Thank you for taking the time for this explanation. I’d never heard the term before.
I wonder where popular music moves to next? I feel it needs to get past rap and Taylor Swift. Hey, that’s just me.
Just enjoyed some Candy Duffer – “Lily Was Here”.
Thank you for your blog!!!
You are always more than welcome!
I don’t think there’s such thing as “pop music” anymore, in the true sense of the word. The fact that there still are good artists / songs doesn’t change that.
Pop music has long become a case for algorithms. I got a term for that : algorhythm ‘n ‘ blues.
Hahaha!!!
Thank you!
