HIROMI UEHARA: REVERSE / OLD CASTLE, BY THE RIVER, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FOREST [WITH CHICK COREA]

On this date, March 26, 1979  the pianist and composer Hiromi Uehara, one of the most extraordinary musicians in contemporary jazz was born. At 14 she played with the Czech Philarmonic Orchestra. At 17, she was discovered by Chick Corea who invited her to play with him. She then studied at the Berklee  with Ahmad Jamal.
We first hear a track from her Spiral album, 2005. Then, another composition of her own, from the double album Duet released in 2008 with Chick Corea.

It’s fantastic how such cerebral music can be so passionate. I’ve always been a fan of Chick Corea, but the piece with HIROMI UEHARA ices the cake. Thank you!

I think it’s a myth that cerebral is the opposite of passionate. You must have great passion to …support cerebral activities. Art is a fine proof of that. Thank you Resa!
