A contribution to the car-related music tribute from the good friend of the blog Emmanouel : a hyper pleasant pop song by the Spanish band Gospel Music, unknown to me, with vocals from Tracey Anne Campbell [Camera Obscura].
It is good to “see” indie pop surviving, even in days like these.
I’ve got a little Honda, it ain’t much but it’s paid for
He’s got a little Honda, it ain’t much but it’s paid for
Two doors is too few doors, two more doors makes for four doors
Two doors is too few doors, two more doors makes for four doors
Most times it’s just a way to get from A to B
But B turns into C then D occasionally
That’s when I don’t call it a car — I call it an automobile
Automobile, take me away
Take me to the forest, to the mountains, to the bay
Take me where the trees
Slow dance with the breeze
Automobile, take me away
To Ipanema, to Morocco, to Bombay
Take me where palm trees
Sway in the seabreeze
Automobile
Lover, our love notes have fallen off the major scale
Lover, it’s as if our love could use a stiff cocktail
So let’s take a little trip, over hill and over dale
Let’s take a little trip, but not by rail and not by sail
Blind spots are on our hearts — let’s get a better view
If you can’t see my tears, I can’t see you
Darling, don’t you call it a car — call it an automobile
Automobile, take us away
To another year, another month, another day
To the first time we
Slow danced by the sea
Automobile
Automobile
A-U-T-O-M-O-B-I-L-E
Automobile, take us away
Take us to the forest, to the mountains, to the bay
Take us where they steam
Tamales in banana leaves
Automobile, take us away
To another year, another month, another day
To the first time we
Slow danced by the sea
Automobile
Automobile

That’s a great little song!!
That’s exactly how I ‘d call it myself!
😀
That’s a really fun song. You are not going to believe this, but we had a green Honda 600 car like the orange one in the photo. It was Honda’s precursor to the Civic. It had a 2 cylinder 600cc motorcycle engine under the hood. Tiny, fun car to drive.
It sure looks like it! One of the [many] things I “envied” Americans for is this constant flow of [amazing] cars in their lives.
Marina’s parents also had a silver and a gold Honda in the late ’70s, my first one was a Nissan Cherry in the middle ’80s.
Since some of the songs you posted are about some of the cars that we’ve had in the family and I had driven since I got my driver’s license when I was 15 years old, I just put together a spreadsheet of all the cars we’ve had with the year, make, model, color, years owned, and notes about each car. There have been 33 cars in my life since 1973.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [that’s 33 exclamation marks]😊
We could all do with being driven to the Forests an the Mountains right now dear Oannes… Away from the madness … Have a lovely Christmas you two <3
I don’t know if my comment was posted. Internet troubles. So, I’m trying again
If you find it twice…pardon!!
Sweet!!! Reminiscent of the B 52’s at moments. Still, it’s its own song and sound.
Thank you!
