Η βερσιόν της Aretha Franklin δεν είναι μόνο μνημειώδης. Είναι και η αυθεντική ηχογράφηση του “Let It Be”, κυκλοφορημένη δυο μήνες πριν απ’ το ομώνυμο άλμπουμ των Βeatles [περιέχεται στο This Girl’s In Love With You, Ιανουάριος 1970].
Το τραγούδι του McCartney ήταν εμπνευσμένο από, και προορισμένο γι’ αυτήν, άσχετα αν για κάποιο λόγο, η εκτέλεσή της έμεινε σχετικά άγνωστη.
Aretha Franklin’s version is not only monumental. It is also the original recording of “Let It Be”, released two months before the Beatles album by the same name [it’s on This Girl’s In Love With You, January 1970].
McCartney’s song was inspired by and written for her, although for some reason her version remained relatively unknown.
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the brokenhearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer
Let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer
Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer
Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
Let is be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine on ’til tomorrow
Let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom
Let it be, yeah
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Oh, there will be an answer
Let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom
Let it be

Love this and she’s always been a favorite.
Beautiful, rich version, and I had no idea of the history of this song. Thank you!
I had no idea that the song had been written for Franklin. Her version has a gospel vibe to it.
Unavoidably!
