From what I remember of seeing the movie, the score carried it, not the acting.
This has always been the role of music in cinema: to provide rhythm and intensity, even where they are absent.
And not only in cinema—in The Mall, in restaurants, in supermarkets. When “All the world’s a stage”, there must be background music everywhere. Everybody’s living off music parasitically! 😃
