The link stcigar sent leads to details about Queen Elizabeth’s informal meeting with Duke Ellington in 1959 : starting with a compliment about her age, from which “Her Majesty” seemed to be flattered, the famously well-mannered bandleader took the next step by revealing that she inspires him musically and that …something could come out of it. She encouraged him, the end result being the album that DE recorded and released in …a single copy exclusively for her. It contained The Queen’s Suite.
