Ορχηστρική έκδοση [Woody Herman – The Third Herd, 1999] και τραγούδι με την Jo Stafford [με διευθυντή ορχήστρας τον Paul Weston].
5 days before officially entering Autumn [Fall Equinox – September, 22] and in the absence of the host, here’s “Early Autumn“. A song composed by Ralph Burns and Woody Herman with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.
Instrumental version [Woody Herman – The Third Herd, 1999] & sung by Jo Stafford [orchestra directed by Paul Weston].
When an early autumn walks the land and chills the breeze
And touches with her hand the summer trees,
Perhaps you’ll understand what memories I own.
There’s a dance pavilion in the rain all shuttered down,
A winding country lane all russet brown,
A frosty window pane shows me a town grown lonely.
That spring of ours that started so April-hearted,
Seemed made for just a boy and girl.
I never dreamed, did you, any fall would come in view
So early, early.
Darling if you care, please, let me know,
I’ll meet you anywhere, I miss you so.
Let’s never have to share another early autumn.

Yes! 😉 🙏🙏🎶🎵
Woody Herman was one of my mom’s favorites. I don’t think much about clarinet these days. I don’t think a lot of people know or remember that Woody Allen is a very good clarinetist.
He was a brilliant clarinetist [Woody Allen too… not as good as Herman though].
Not many as good as Herman.
Yep! 😉
My dad was a huge Woody Herman fan. Herman’s music was a big part of my growing up years.
Sounds like wonderful years! 😉 Just think of the music kids grow up with today… 🤗🤗
Love this! Thank you, Marina! You make a fab sub-in host! xoxo
