Από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες περιπτώσεις της σύγχρονης ευρωπαϊκής jazz, ο Γερμανός πιανίστας και συνθέτης Michael Wollny, έχει ήδη μια μεγάλη δισκογραφία, με σχήματα όπως οι [em] και οι Michael Wollny Trio,  με διάφορες συνεργασίες αλλά και σόλο. Το κομμάτι που ακούμε προέρχεται από το άλμπουμ του Wunderkammer XXL, του 2013. Πρόκειται για τη live παρουσίαση ενώπιον ενός ενθουσιώδους κοινού, του Wunderkammer, κυκλοφορημένου 4 χρόνια νωρίτερα ως ντουέτου με την τεμπαλίστρια Tamar Halperin. Η τελευταία τον συνοδεύει και εδώ, στο πλαίσιο μιας συναρπαστικής ηχητικής διεύρυνσης με τη συμμετοχή της Fraknkfurt Radio Big Band. Παρεμπιπτόντως, η συνέντευξη που είχα με τον MW με αφορμή το στούντιο άλμουμ, δημοσιευμένη στον ΗΧΟ, ήταν από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες συζητήσεις που έχω κάνει με σύγχρονονο μουσικό ανεξαρτήτως χώρου. 📀 📀 📀 One of the most compelling figures in contemporary European jazz, German pianist and composer Michael Wollny has already amassed an extensive discography, ranging from work with ensembles like [em] and the Michael Wollny Trio to various collaborations and solo projects. It is a live presentation in front of an enthusiastic audience of Wunderkammer, originally released four years earlier as a duet with harpsichordist Tamar Halperin. Halperin also joins him for this performance, which features an exciting sonic expansion involving the Frankfurt Radio Big Band.
