Ακούμε τη Σπουδή Υπερβατικής Δεξιοτεχνίας No 5 (Feux Follets) του Liszt ηχογραφημένη στo Abbey Road το 1984 για την EMI Angel από τον 14χρονο Δημήτρη Σγούρο. Αυτό, στο εκθαμβωτικό ξεκίνημα μιας καριέρας που, από δισκογραφική άποψη, δεν έμελλε να επιρρώσει τις προβλέψεις : απουσία, μετά την εφηβεία, συμβολαίων με κορυφαία brands, εστιασμός περισσότερο στα live παρά στο στούντιο ηχογράφησης – κάτι που, για όσους έχουν μια ιδέα για το δισκογραφικό κύκλωμα της περιόδου, μάλλον τιμή περιποιεί στον καλλιτέχνη παρά το αντίθετο. Για τη συνέχεια η ιλιγγιώδης (με την …καλύτερη δυνατή έννοια) ερμηνεία του Σκέρτσου Νο 3 σε ντο δίεση ελάσσονα έργο 39 του Chopin, από ηχογράφηση στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής τον Απρίλη του 1997. Ανάμεσα στους χειροκροτητές του τέλους, ακούγεται …ο υποφαινόμενος. 😃
We are listening to Liszt’s Transcendental Étude No. 5 (Feux Follets), recorded at Abbey Road by the then 14-year-old Dimitris Sgouros in 1984 for EMI Angel. This belongs to the dazzling start of a career that, from a discographic point of view, was not destined to fulfill the predictions : after adolescence there were no contracts with major labels, and the emphasis remained far more on live performance than on studio recording — something which, for those familiar with the recording industry of the period, rather honours the artist than the opposite. Next comes the vertiginous (in the best possible sense) interpretation of Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp minor, Op. 39, a live recording made at Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall in April 1997. Among those applauding at the end, one can hear…yours truly. 😃
