Ο Γερμανός συνθέτης και παραγωγός Uwe Schmidt είναι ο άνθρωπος που κρύβεται πίσω από το ψευδώνυμο Senor Coconut. Γεννημένος στη Φραγκφούρτη, μετακόμισε τρεις δεκαετίες αργότερα (late ‘90s) στη Λατινική Αμερική, όπου εμπέδωσε το προσωπικό του στιλ, συνδυάζοντας λάτιν και ηλεκτρονικούς ρυθμούς / ήχους. Το συγκεκριμένο project, βασισμένο στη μουσική των Kraftwerk, απ’ το οποίο ακούμε δυο τραγούδια, ηχογραφήθηκε στο Σαντιάγκο της Χιλής το 1999 και κυκλοφόρησε ένα χρόνο αργότερα. Αποτελεί δε ένα από τα πιο συναρπαστικά και ενδιαφέροντα tributes που έχω ακούσει – για να μη μιλήσω για τα κύματα ευφορικού χιούμορ που διαπερνούν κάθε του νότα. 🟡 🟡 The German composer and producer Uwe Schmidt is the man behind the alias Señor Coconut. Born in Frankfurt, he moved to Latin America three decades later (in the late ‘90s), where he developed his personal style, blending Latin and electronic rhythms/sounds. This particular project, based on Kraftwerk’s music—from which we hear two songs—was recorded in Santiago, Chile in 1999 and released one year later. It stands as one of the most exciting and interesting tributes I’ve ever heard—not to mention the waves of euphoric humor that run through every single note.
