Masters of eclectic pop and studio wizards,
10CC reach their creative peak with How Dare You, the album they released in 1976.
We hear the introductory
“Lazy Ways”, first of a long line of masterpieces – in this particular era, in this particular field, the only “rivals” for 10 CC are artists such as Roxy Music, Sparks and Bowie.

Hazy Days
With Lazy Ways
You get less done but more
Out of your days
How can you work yet avoid
Getting out of your lazy ways
You’ll never get up if you don’t get up
You’ll always stay down if you sit around
You’ll never get up if you don’t get up
You’ll always stay down if you sit around
Hazy Days
Lazy Ways
We got less done but more
Out of our days
How can we ever recapture the feeling
Of lazy ways
You’ll never get up if you don’t get up
You’ll always stay down if you sit around
Where nobody cares and nobody tries
‘Cause a daydreams resting on the back of your eyes
On the back of your eyes
Taking five
Bring love to me
With your body
Let me hold you
Endless, endlessly
You’ll never get up if you don’t get up
You’ll always stay down if you sit around
Where nobody cares and nobody tries
‘Cause a daydreams resting on the back of your eyes
On the back of your eyes
Hazy days
Lazy ways
You get less done but more
Out of your days
Crazy days
Lazy ways

I saw 10 CC in concert in either late 1978 or early 1979 when they were on tour promoting their “Bloody Tourists” Album. The were in Popejoy Hall on the university campus. Popejoy Hall is an acoustically perfect auditorium designed for symphony orchestras. Needles to say, that was one of the best sounding and most enjoyable concerts I ever experienced.

Well done recording. It seems not to matter when something is recorded. If it’s done well, it stands the test of time. Considering this is 45 years old, it is amazing. A fun listen!
