MILY BALAKIREV [1837 – 1910] : SYMPHONY No 1

Mily Balakirev was a leading figure of 19th century Russian music, gathering, encouraging and crucially influencing the style of his peers, including the [other members] of The Five, and Tchaikovsky himself.
We hear the second part,
Scherzo : Vivo, from his Symphony No 1. The USSR Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Evgeni Svetlanov.

    I enjoyed that.
I think it is a wonderful thing that you are sharing music from Russia. We must remember not to hate all Russians. putin is the one to hate. The arts are more important now, than ever.

I agree about the arts of course. But in my opinion along with VP one has to also hate “the hero” Zelenskyy who is a traitor to his country and a sellout to the Americans. And of course one has to hate Joe Biden and his “administration”. This is a complex situation. There are no good guys in this story.

Agree, there are no good guys. There is only death, sorrow and heartbreak.
I honestly am afraid of nuclear war. I’m losing sleep.
I wish those damn bombs were never invented.
        Love to you and Marina!

Apart from a fatal mistake [fat chance] I don’t think we should be afraid of nukes. The only thing we should be afraid of is sheer poverty, in my opinion.

Sheer poverty… that would be horrid, painful and worse.
You are a most interesting person. I’m glad to be here.
