Τα αιματηρά επεισόδια που σημάδεψαν το καλοκαίρι του 2020 με αφορμή το θάνατο του George Floyd, ήταν από τα πιο δυσάρεστα κεφάλαια της σύγχρονης ιστορίας των ΗΠΑ – παρακολουθώ την πολιτική σκηνή της χώρας σταθερά, 20-25 χρόνια τώρα.
Το αυτό ισχύει και για την ηρωοποίηση / αγιοποίηση ενός άτυχου, ταλαίπωρου “παραβατικού” από τους Black Lives Matter, όπως και για τις ανατριχιαστικές σκηνές με τις γονυκλισίες οργάνων της τάξεως, πολιτικών και …πολιτών μπροστά στα μέλη της ρατσιστικής οργάνωσης.
Αλλά το να δημιουργείται ρεύμα, σήμερα, για απονομή προεδρικής χάριτος στον Derek Chauvin, τον άνθρωπο που κρατούσε τον GF καθηλωμένο 9 λεπτά με το γόνατο στο λαιμό, με το επιχείρημα ότι, εν τέλει, αιτία θανάτου ήταν το overdose από ναρκωτικά που είχε καταπιεί για να εξαφανίσει, είναι τουλάχιστον χυδαίο : ακόμα και αν το περί OD είναι αλήθεια (η ιατροδικαστική ανάλυση και το ιστορικό του GF εγγυώνται γι’ αυτό) η “αβρή” μεταχείρισή του απ’ τον μπάτσο δεν μπορεί να ξεπεταχθεί σαν άσχετη με το θάνατό του …Ως προς το τι επακολουθεί, σε περίπτωση εγκληματικού λάθους του DT, δε θέλω να το σκέφτομαι.

The bloody incidents that marked the summer of 2020, sparked by the death of George Floyd, were among the most unpleasant chapters in the modern history of the USA—I’ve been steadily following the country’s political scene for 20-25 years now. The same applies to the heroization/sanctification of an unfortunate, wretched “delinquent” by Black Lives Matter, as well as to the chilling scenes of law enforcement officers, politicians, and …citizens kneeling before members of the racist organization.
But the fact that a movement is being created today for a presidential pardon for Derek Chauvin, the man who held GF pinned down for 9 minutes with his knee on his neck, with the argument that, in the end, the cause of death was an overdose from drugs he had swallowed to hide, is at the very least vulgar: even if the overdose story is true (the forensic analysis and GF’s history guarantee it), the “gentle” treatment by the cop cannot be brushed off as unrelated to his death …As for what follows, in case of a criminal mistake by DT, I don’t even want to think about it.
