Ο φίλος του blog, dnk μου θύμισε αυτό το τραγούδι των Wall Of Voodoo. Και μαζί τη σχέση του θέματός του μ’ αυτό που βιώνει ο τηλε-πολίτης της σήμερον ερχόμενος σε επαφή με το φαινόμενο των …τηλε-ειδικών.
dnk, a friend of the blog, reminded me of this song by Wall Of Voodoo. And with that, the relation of its subject with what today’s TV citizens go through, dealing with the …TV experts phenomenon.
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
And the touch of a world that is older
Turn the switch and check the number
Leave it on when in bed I slumber
I hear the rhythms of the music
I buy the product and never use it
I hear the talking of the dj

I’m on a mexican radio
I dial it in and tune the station

I understand just a little
No comprende–it’s a riddle
I’m on a mexican radio
I’m on a mexican radio
I wish I was in Tiajuana

I love Wall of Voodoo. They are one of my favorite groups. “Mexican Radio” is a great song, but two more favorites are “Call of the West” and “Elvis bought Dora and Cadillac”. They are brilliant. “Tse Tse Fly” is another brilliant piece by WoV.
Thank you! I first saw / heard WoV on the “Urgh A Music War” movie and got into them. I agree about the other songs, I just chose this particular one because a friend of mine made a comparison between the song’s subject and what we are going through for the last 16 months listening to the fear mongering vaccine promoters, aka “the experts”. [Actually, “Tse Tse Fly” has something to do with the subject also].
New to me and I love it! Shades of an early Zappa.
Definitely!
