THE DAMNED : RUNNING MAN [I’M ALRIGHT JACK & THE BEANSTALK, 1995]

Από το άλμπουμ τους I’m Alright Jack & The Beanstalk του 1995.

Almost 20 years after their debut album [the first – and the best – punk album ever released on English ground] lowering speed but not exactly “landed”, The Damned offer a mini epic. From their album I’m Alright Jack & The Beanstalk of 1995.

When the storm is raging you’re beginning to lose your mind
Your head’s exploding and you never can look behind
And it’s your very last wish to never lose control
Dogs on your heels and they just won’t let you go
You’re a running man
You just can’t stand
You’re a running man
You just can’t plan
Yeah, you’re a running man
Such a running man
Running man
When you’re caught on a hook and killing doesn’t seem such a crime
Just answer this question if you ever do have the time
In this grand illusion you know life can be so cruel
It eats you up just to leave you like a mindless fool
You’re a running man
You just can’t stand
Running man
You know you just can’t plan
Running man
You’re such a running man
Running man
You’re a running man
You just can’t stand
Yeah, you’re a running man
You just can’t plan
When you’re a running man
Such a running man
Running man
Running man
Running man
Yeah, running man
Running man
You’re a running man
Running, running, running man
Running, running, running man

      And probably the last.
I have the album, I played it on my radio show, but I couldn’t find it right now. So I turned to YouTube which I seldom do, only to discover …there seems to be a problem. The album has somehow disappeared form the band’s discography list, I suppose been withdrawn due to legal rights problems or something. But the YouTube link works fine for me and others I’ve asked. Could it be a problem outside UK/EU? dunno. I’ll see what I can do asap.
Lesson learned: I stick to …my record collection.
      Thank you for mentioning this!

Welcome! I have had problems outside of territories, where it says unavailable, but I can almost always find it on youtube.
You must have an amazing record collection!
Norm still has a couple of turntables & a limited collection from the late 60’s & 70’s.
When I listen to a record, I hear the noise in the bg. I like it. It’s comforting.

Well, if by “amazing” you mean “huge”, I must admit I do have one…:)

Yes, huge, but also lots of great content!

Well let’s just say I am not a typical “record collector”. I haven’t got an album I haven’t listened to, neither one which I don’t like [unlike most of the collectors I know]. Not even one in tens of thousands.

…. and you are an honest collector who has the right to his opinions!

I can’t thank you enough for these Star Trek cards!
It took me days to find the right moment for looking at them [everything “Star Trek” is ceremonial to me somehow, so it can only tale place at certain moments – same thing goes for all things I love, actually]. This guy Ortiz is amazingly talented. I didn’t know about him. His perspective expands the original spectrum, being uniquely personal, while remaining absolutely Trekkian – the way I mean the word. Fantastic.
                  Thanks again!

                    You are very, very welcome.
It is a unique collection of posters that was never shared with the general public.
I had a feeling you, as I do, would love them.
So, in the 1980’s there were Star Trek trading cards. I was collecting them, but never got the entire set. There were a lot…. maybe 2-3 hundred.
I’ll scan a few, and email them to Marina.
When this whole Covid insanity is over, or in the spring, I’ll mail them to you, if you like.
