Σύμφωνα, υποτίθεται, με τον ίδιο τον Syd Barrett, το τραγούδι
γράφτηκε για ένα κορίτσι το οποίο “είδε στο όνειρό του, καθώς κοιμόταν στο δάσος, υπό την επήρρεια LSD.”
Η τέτοιου είδους ανεκδοτολογία, και η εν γένει φιλολογία, άσχετες με το δημιουργικό γίγνεσθαι, υπάγονται στο κόνσεπτ μιας εποχής όπου τα drugs διανέμονταν από τις μυστικές υπηρεσίες, και όπου συνθήματα του τύπου “turn on, tune in, drop out” ήταν το αντίστοιχο ενός “no borders” του σήμερα.
… Τι έχουμε εδώ; μια εκστατική ενατένιση της χαμένης παιδικότητας. Και για το συγκεκριμένο state of mind, ούτε ψυχεδελικά ναρκωτικά χρειάζονται, ούτε ύπνος στο δάσος. Για την ιστορία, πρόκειται για το δεύτερο σινγκλ των Pink Floyd, ηχογραφημένο το 1967. Πρώτο άλμπουμ στο οποίο εμφανίσθηκε ήταν το compilation Relics [1971]

According to Syd Barrett, allegedly, the songs lyrics are about a girl which “he saw in a dream as he slept in the woods, under the influence of LSD”.
Such literature, unrelated to the creative process itself, belongs to the concept of an era when drugs were distributed by the secret services, and where slogans such as “turn on, tune in, drop out” were the equivalent of today’s “no borders”…
What do we have here? an ecstatic contemplation of lost childhood. And to get to this state of mind, no psychedelic drugs, nor sleeping in the woods are required. For the record, this is the second Pink Floyd single, recorded in 1967. First album on which it appeared was the Relics compilation [1971]
