OINGO BOINGO, feat. DANNY ELFMAN : IM’ SO BAD / AIN’T THIS THE LIFE

Απ’ τις ιδιαίτερες περιπτώσεις του May born musicians club ο Αμερικανός συνθέτης Danny Elfman, ανανεωτής της κινηματογραφικής μουσικής από τα middle ‘80s [Beetlejuice, Scissorhands, Batman, Sleepy Hollow, The Nightmare Before Christmas etc] και, λιγότερο γνωστός ως singer-songwriter του ιδιοσυγκρασιακού new wave σχήματος Oingo Boingo. Ακούμε δυο από τα πρώτα τραγούδια του[ς], το ένα απ’ αυτά, ‘Ain’t This The Life’ [03:56] σε δυο βερσιόν : mp3 και βίντεο από τη μνημειώδη μουσική ταινία Urgh, A Music War του 1982.

The American composer Danny Elfman is among the special cases of the May born musicians club : a renovator of film music from the mid-’80s on [Beetlejuice, Scissorhands, Batman, Sleepy Hollow, The Nightmare Before Christmas etc] and lesser known as the singer-songwriter of idiosyncratic new wave band Oingo Boingo. We hear two of their first songs, one of them, ‘Ain’t This The Life’ [03:56] in two versions : mp3 and video from the monumental music film Urgh, A Music War of 1982.

Can’t seem to find my way
Someone tell me what to say
Where am I going
Where did I come from
I don’t know, I don’t know
Almost got to paradise
But the smoke always gets
In my eyes
Everything I do is wrong
I’m so bad . . . so bad
Late at night, they’re asleep
I’m awake, get the urge
Hit the street, jump a curb
Alleyway, dark and wet
Set the trap, I forget
Who I am. But I know
I’ll get you . . I’m so bad
I was born inside a cage
Never knew anything but rage
Although I tried so hard to adjust
Love is something I don’t understand
Take what I need and I get what I can
OH . . . I’m so bad
I wake up in the morning so tired
Dreamt that I was walking through fire
The fire didn’t hurt me though
We’re old friends
Can’t seem to find my way
Someone tell me what to say
Everything I do is wrong
Pass the time, lie in bed
Hotel room, T.V. set
Got to move, might be dead
Catch a ride, I’m awake
Join a crowd, hidden blade
Buy a drink, you better pray
I don’t get you
I’m so bad . . . so bad

Livin’ way up now in a penthouse high
Our steaks are rare and our martini’s dry
Folks below they say it ain’t fair
Hell with them, I really don’t care
Joie de vivre, mon amie
Ain’t this the life
Having a party on a big jet plane
I got so drunk that I could feel no pain
Hangin’ out in acapulco,
Drinkin’ rum and sniffin’ co-co
Pretty senorita look this way
Dancing through the night
Everything’s alright
Girlfriend and a wife
Ain’t this the life, ain’t this the life
Ain’t this the life, baby, baby, baby . . .
Tropical island in the deep blue sea
The natives are friendly and the lobster’s free
Sipping cognac like a french king
Plenty of room, I own the whole thing
Joie de vivre, mon amie
Ain’t this the life
Think I’ll go out now on a shopping spree
Breakfast in new york, dinner in parie
Hangin’ out with lynn and suzie
Have a massage and a ja’causezi
Climb into bed and see what’s on tv
Dancing through the night
Everything’s alright
Girlfriend and a wife . . .
Ain’t this the life, ain’t this the life
Ain’t this the life, tell me, tell me, tell me . . .
