… And a “classic” by Oingo Boingo, Danny Elfman’s band [I ‘ve been a fan of “the man” before the start of his film career] fit for the tribute.
In two versions, studio [mp3] and live.
Yeah, yeah, let ’em in
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin’ with a dead man over my shoulder
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin’ with a dead man over my shoulder
Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin’ to a party where no one’s still alive
Waiting for an invitation to arrive
Goin’ to a party where no one’s still alive
I was struck by lighting, walkin’ down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It’s a dead man’s party, who could ask for more
Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Only me, only me
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin’ with a dead man, with a dead man
Ooh-ooh, waitin’ for an invitation to arrive
Ooh, walkin’ with a dead man, with a dead man
I got my best suit and my tie
With shiny silver dollar on either eye
I hear the chauffeur comin’ to my door
He says there’s room for maybe just one more
Hey, I was struck by lighting, walkin’ down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It’s a dead man’s party, who could ask for more
Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid of what you can’t see
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid of what you can’t see
It’s only me
I was struck by lighting, walkin’ down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It’s a dead man’s party, who could ask for more
Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid of what you can’t see
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid of what you can’t see
It’s only me
It’s only me, only me
It’s only me, it’s only me
Only me, it’s only me
It’s only me
It’s only me

They used to be The Mystic Knights of The Oingo Boingo. I used to book them in high school for $200 a three hour gig.
Fantastic!
I came across them in 1982 – their appearance on the film Urgh! A Music War [“Ain’t This The Life”] – I saw the film 3 times in the row because of Oingo Boingo and Devo [“Uncontrolable Urge”] of whom I already was a huge fan.
I still think of Elfman’s performance in that film as something insuperable!
I like this. I had no idea Oingo Boingo was Elfman’s band. Cool!!!!!
Yes, I was a fan of the guy long before he started his cinematic career. He couldn’t survive [meaning be rich and famous] as a “singer songwriter” – too diversive for the 1980s.
interesting!
