MOZART : MASONIC MUSIC

Zauberflöte.

Centuries before Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne and the rest of the guys,
Wolfgang Amadeus was using masonic symbolism in the context of a multimedia event [opera]. The artist was familiar with Masonic circles while in Salzburg, before been initiated at 28 in Vienna’s Beneficence Lodge. Members of his family were Masons, he himself would acquire a friendly relationship with Adam Weishaupt, founder of the Illuminati faction.
More about that in the next few days, with
Zauberflöte’s presentation. For now, excerpts of music that M composed for use in Masonic rituals.

I was going to say ‘What about The Magic Flute?!’ but you mentioned it and I look forward to your sharing from that brilliant opera! One of the first I ever saw live – helped me fall in love with the genre.

I’ll certainly post a Magic Flute – one of my favorites needless to say! Unfortunately I’ m not very much in the mood for opera these days, otherwise, I’d make more time to include Giovanni, Figaro and Cosi Fan Tutte, and also Idomeneo and La Clemenza Di Tito, which I find underappreciated.
I don’t make “organized” tributes, at this point anyway. I don’t even make a detailed plan, just spontaneous choices, things I’d like to hear myself.
