Το Miles Ahead είναι ένα από τα άλμπουμ που ο μεγάλος μουσικός ηχογράφησε με τη συνεργασία του συνθέτη – ενορχηστρωτή – διευθυντή ορχήστρας Gil Evans. Μια από τις δημιουργίες του τελευταίου εδώ είναι το Blues For Pablo. Ο Miles ακούγεται στο flugelhorn, το οποίο είχε προτιμήσει σε όλη τη διάρκεια του άλμπουμ.
Δεξιά το αυθεντικό εξώφυλο, για το οποίο ο MD είχε εκφράσει δυσαρέσκεια ως προς το χρώμα του δέρματος των εικονιζομένων (“Why’d you put that white bitch on there?”) πετυχαίνοντας την αντικατάστασή του.
Το ενδιαφέρον προκύπτει αβίαστα εκ του ότι το Miles Ahead έχει φτιαχτεί υπό την εποπτεία λευκού bandleader και είναι βασισμένο εν πολλοίς στην κλασική (βλ. …λευκή) μουσική παράδοση. Εικόνα ανοίγματος : ο Miles με τη Ζαν Μορώ στο Παρίσι, 1957.

Miles Ahead is one of the albums the great musician released in collaboration with composer – arranger – conductor Gil Evans. Blues For Pablo is one of the creations of the latter here. Miles can be heard on flugelhorn, which he ‘d preferred throughout the album.
On the right : the original cover, for which MD had expressed dissatisfaction with the skin color of the depicted (“Why’d you put that white bitch on there?”) and succeeded in replacing it.
